3 things to know about lined super sacks

Lined super sacks are the perfect choice for bulk materials that require a high degree of security during packaging. The liner covers the entire interior of the package, preventing the goods from coming into contact with the jumbo bag’s fabric and seams.

For very small powder and liquid materials, the use of a leakproof thread is unlikely to be sufficient. In these cases, the FIBC bag is inserted with an FIBC liner to protect the goods inside from moisture and heat. Readers, please follow EPP VietNam’s article below to get an overview of this fibc product.

What is special about lined super sacks?

Lined bulk bags are industrial FIBC bags enhanced with an internal liner to protect moisture-sensitive or fine powder products like flour, starch, or chemicals. Unlike standard FIBC bags made of coated or uncoated PP woven fabric, lined bags offer superior barrier protection against humidity, contamination, and leakage.

These Lined super sacks are ideal for hygienic or hazardous applications. They can be customized with one, two, or four lifting straps and constructed in U-panel, 4-panel, or tubular styles based on handling needs.

Lined super sacks ensure product integrity where standard bags may fall short, especially during long-distance transport or extended storage. Their added protection helps reduce spoilage, maintain product quality, and meet strict industry regulations.

Benefits of lined super sacks

The FIBC liner (Poly liner) is made from PE, EVOH or Aluminium. This inner liner prevents fine dust, water vapor, and moisture from sticking to the fabric. It is also used to control humidity with a thickness from 0.05mm – 1mm. The liners or PE liners have only one use, which is to line the inside of the bulk bag.

This liner is responsible for completely separating the product from the outside environment, avoiding moisture and the influence of temperature. The liner is usually made of PE (Polyethylene) material for its toughness and high resistance. Bulk bags with liners also somewhat help to increase the load.

If the product is exposed to rain or wind or contaminated with gasoline or chemicals, the fibc liner will protect the goods inside, which the outer woven fabric cannot do. In conditions of changing temperature, this liner also preserves the product better.

Types of FIBC liner for Lined super sacks

Jumbo bags with inner liners are often used to store ultra-fine materials such as powders and chemicals. In addition, fibc packaging is especially useful when storing and preserving foods such as rice, rice, flour, and protein. Liners can be customized to suit each type of bulka bag.

Tubular liner/ Lay-Flat Polyethylene Liner

The tubular liner is usually welded at the bottom. The disadvantage of this type is that the liner does not follow the shape of the bag, which may cause some difficulties when discharging goods. To overcome this situation, enterprises will use discharge systems for a smooth flow of materials inside.

Q-Liner/ Baffle Polyethylene Liners

Q-liners have baffles from PE inside, which will make the outer jumbo bag have the ability to remain square in shape. The liner is attached to the FIBC by sewing 8 glass tapes to 8 points on the top and the bottom of the bag. After that, the liner will be stabilized inside the big bags.

Form-Fit Liner

Form-fit liners are designed to match the exact shape of the FIBC bag, providing a snug fit. They are typically glued or sewn into the bag to form a lined super sacks, reducing folds and creases that can trap product and hinder discharge. This type is ideal for maximizing volume and ensuring efficient emptying.

Suspended Liner

Suspended liners are commonly used in one-loop or two-loop big bags. They feature two lifting loops that are sewn directly to the FIBC’s lifting straps, allowing the liner to stay suspended inside the bag. This design minimizes liner movement and improves discharge control.

Size of PE liner

The size of the PE liner is usually determined based on the dimension of the super sack. Depending on the type and application of the material, the thickness of the inner liner can be from 60 to 120 microns.

PE form-fit Liner Size Chart for FIBC Bags

FIBC bags size (cm) Recommended liner size (cm) Liner thickness (Microns) Application
90 x 90 x 120 95 x 95 x 125 80-100 Food, starch, flour, general powders
95 × 95 × 120 100 × 100 × 125 80–100 Chemicals, minerals, fine granules
100 × 100 × 120 105 × 105 × 125 100-120 Moisture-sensitive or hazardous materials
105 x 105 x 130 110 x 110 x 135 100-120 High-density powders, pharma-grade products
110 x 110 x 140 115 x 115 x 145 100-120 Long-term storage, export packaging

Notes:

Liner size is typically 2–5 cm larger than the bag’s internal dimensions to allow for easy insertion and proper fit. Customer should also add the length of filling and dischagre spout of the out bag for the formfit liner.

To size a tubular liner correctly, add the filling and discharge spout lengths plus extra allowance to the bag height:

Liner Length = Bag Height + Filling Spout + Discharge Spout + 100 cm.

For an FIBC bag sized 90 × 90 × 120 cm, with Filling spout: 50 cm, Discharge spout: 50 cm

The recommended tubular liner size would be:

  • Width: 185 cm (circumference to match 90 cm square base)
  • Length: 120 + 50 + 50 + extra = 320 cm

Material is usually 100% virgin LDPE, but cers.an be customized (e.g., aluminum foil, EVOH) based on barrier needs.

Color options include transparent (standard), blue (for food-grade), or custom colors for identification.
